Rumble of Ancient Times - Modern Approach to 8 Bit Synthesis
Tom 78 26.07.2022
Soma Labs have done it again. Much like the Lyra 8 and Pulsar 23, the company has released another inspiring product that doesn't sound like anything else on the market. Just make sure you have plenty of batteries, because making sounds and sequences is pretty addictive with it. I've already paired ROAT with a DFAM and some Noise engineering Modules and it really fits in that mix.
I was also somewhat concerned after reading some less than flattering reviews regarding Thomann on google, but the packaging was fantastic and it arrived in only 3 business days. I highly recommend them. It's easy to fault them instead of a courier, but from my experience they really seem top notch. Can't wait to get something else down the road.

I like the chaos button a lot. There is a problem while syncing with mine because after a while it starts getting delayed.

Great weird little synth
salamonster 18.05.2025
For what it does I love this thing. A great starter into the SOMA synth universe. Connect to a looper and a multi-effects pedal and you've got yourself an instant noise jammer. Every device should have such an elegant interface, environmentally-friendly powering system, and randomisation features. My only main complaint is the batteries pop out very easily because there's no compartment door keeping them in. That and a clock in would be nice so I don't have to rely on this device's primitive (though fun) looper to set the BPM. But overall an inspired, weird, Lovecraftian little device.

Weird and Wonderful

I love Soma gear, and the RoAT fits in perfectly with my Lyra 8 and Cosmos. The only limit is your imagination.
