A simplified workstation
fadelat 28.02.2019
MX61 can be used - and can be evaluated - on two different levels: use as a ROMpler keyboard with which to cover the keyboard parts during live performance or as an extended controller / generator / audio-midi board for the project studio programming. In both cases, the most important parameter, the one from which you can not get rid of is the purchase price.
MX is not the right tool to do tonal research and programming from scratch but if you are looking for an instrument equipped with (many) internal sounds, well differentiated, suitable to cover the traditional strings - brass - piano needs, that can be used in full Cubase integration (supplied at no cost), with Audio and MIDI management functions on USB (even just out), the thing takes shape and has a very specific sense.

I
Lightweight keyboard
IngvarJackal 07.10.2020
The keyboard is extremely lightweight, which helps not to break it (since it's made from plastic and is hollow inside).
Sounds are recorded from high-end keyboards, and sound very well.
The drum patterns in the keyboard sound fine, nothing special. It's not an arranger keyboard, so it won't detect chords.
I haven't used it with DAW -- so no comments.

S
Excellent keyboard
Sci 06.05.2022
This keyboard is amazing ,one might think 49 keys might not be adequate to perform well at a gig. But the keyboard can be use as a controller or at live performance . It's light and comes with yamaha's award tones. It's an excellent instrument to us as a top keyboard. In my opinion this keyboard is currently the best keyboard in its range as a 49 key instrument.
